Connecting your CRM for Living Memory
Connecting your CRM for Living Memory
Your CRM holds the story of every customer relationship: who they are, where they are in their lifecycle, and what they have done with you so far. Living Memory is the Unless feature that brings that story into every AI conversation, so your agent never greets a returning customer like a stranger. When you connect a CRM, the data flows into the agent’s working memory, and every interaction across acquisition, retention, expansion, and support starts with the full picture.
What Living Memory does
Living Memory is one of the three senses that power every Unless agent. While Living Knowledge captures what your business knows and Living Context captures what your business can do, Living Memory captures who the agent is talking to. It combines CRM data, preferences, and previous interactions into one working memory that is private per customer.
The data comes from 40+ CRM and customer data integrations, uniting structured data with working memory. That means preferences, history, sentiment, and goals are all available to the agent in real time, without the customer ever having to repeat themselves.
What happens when you connect a CRM
When you connect a CRM like Close, Zoho CRM, or Twenty, the data feeds into Living Context, the engine that connects your AI customer agent to your business systems. Once connected, your agent starts every conversation with the full customer picture: who the customer is, where they are in their lifecycle, and what they need.
The benefits are consistent across integrations:
- Full context on every conversation: Your agent reads account, contact, and deal data from the CRM, so customers never have to repeat themselves.
- Relationships that stay warm: Living Memory keeps preferences, lifecycle stage, and sentiment in sync, so each conversation feels known.
- Signals routed to the right person: As customers engage with your website and product, Unless spots buying, retention, and upsell signals and routes them into the CRM for the right sales rep or account manager to pick up.
How the connection works
Unless connects to your CRM through Living Context. Your agent reads CRM records to ground every conversation, and routes buying, retention, and upsell signals it spots on your website and product back into the CRM for the right rep to pick up. This two-way flow means the CRM stays current with what the agent learns, and the agent stays current with what the CRM knows.
Setting up a CRM integration
The setup process is the same across CRM integrations. You start from the Integrations tab in your Unless dashboard, find the CRM you want to connect, and select Configure. A popup opens where you can connect your CRM account and set up the integration.
Some CRM connectors are premium integrations, so check the pricing page before you start. The setup itself takes minutes, not months, and there is no migration project involved.
What data gets synced
The data synced depends on the CRM you connect. For example, with Twenty CRM, Unless can read people, company, and deal data to ground AI conversations. That data supports three main use cases: personalizing AI conversations based on customer relationship history, routing sales opportunities to the appropriate team member, and surfacing relevant context during support interactions.
The bigger picture
Connecting your CRM is one step in a larger system. The Unless Engine runs on a continuous learning loop with four phases: Train, Test, Deploy, and Analyze. Your CRM data enters through the Train phase, gets validated in Test, powers customer conversations in Deploy, and shows up in Analyze as performance and business value metrics. The result is one agent, one memory, and one relationship across the entire customer lifetime, with no cold opens and no four separate bots.
